Tour the Westerly Armory

Tourists, students, scouts, and the community are welcome to visit the Westerly Armory.  Normal operating days are Monday and Thursday from 9:00 to 4:00, but tours can be scheduled by appointment or chance.  You will see the entire Armory building and/or the three museum rooms, the home of the Westerly Band and their display of memorabilia and library of historic music, and (if you are hardy) the great cellar where the National Guard once had its kitchen and dining area as well as vehicle storage.

The Armory specializes in community memorabilia (Westerly-Pawcatauck) as well as displays of local veterans such as Charles Utter, Elliott Thorpe, Andy Low, Francis Delvy, Al Almeida, Bob St. Germain, Bob Watz, Reggie Centracchio, Bill Babcock, Leon LaPorte, Bob Mudge, Francis Spry, Bruce Blount, Fred Roever, and many more.

Items from local businesses and historic sites are part of the tour and the Armory is looking for more to add to its museum.  From Consumer's Dairy to the Ocean House, from the trolleys and trains of Westerly to the Naval Air Station, Westerly has a deep history that should interest young and old.
